April was always only going to be about one thing – Magic Rock’s ‘Un-Human Cannonball 2014’ release. But more about that later.

We started the month with a review of Brains Craft Brewery / The Beer Channel collaboration ‘Black Mountain’ which you can listen to here.

UHC B&W Insta (2)Then there was lots of Adnams, thanks to the lovely people from Southwold sending us mini-casks of Jack Brand ‘Mosaic Pale Ale’ and the collaboration with Camden Town Brewery, ‘South Town’. Check out the full review of those beers on the blog here.

It was at this point that the magic happened. ‘Un-Human Cannonball’ was released on April 10. I was excited and the launch events (in London and Manchester) featured an all-star cast from Magic Rock Brewing. Following the launch events, we wrote a collaborative blog which you can check out here.

The second show of April featured renowned craft wanker beer writer Chris Hall reviewing The Kernel Brewery’s ‘London Sour’ with us. This was followed by a show featuring recent Thornbridge release ‘Sequoia’.

The Easter weekend saw us hold a Twitter tasting (or twasting) of Magic Rock’s ‘Un-Human Cannonball’. You can check out what went down on that evening through our Storify feed here.

The final show of season 4 (part 1) was a special that we recorded with John Keeling, Director of Brewing from Fuller’s which featured 5 Fuller’s beers. You can check out all1 hour and 45 minutes of that episode here.

OLOn the last Friday of April, I was lucky enough to be trying a bottle of Andy Parker / Elusive Brewing’s ‘Blood Orange Sour’, a beer that tasted like an alcoholic glass of orange juice and that with some planned tweaks will certaing give the ‘London Sour’ a run for it’s money. This was followed by a bottle of Siren / Hill Farmstead / Mikkeller collab ‘Limoncello IPA’, which quite simply put was stunning. Like sucking on a lemon sherbet filled wtih hops while having your faced constantly smashed by lemon curd tarts.

April’s beer of the month is a simple one. For the second time this year, that honour goes to Magic Rock for ‘Un-Human Cannonball’. A beer that is about so much more than just The Hype. Honourable mentions for Siren / Hill Farmstead / Mikkeller ‘Limoncello IPA’ and The Kernel ‘London Sour’.

The show is off the air until Friday 30 May when we’ll be returning with a review and interview with Camden Town Brewery. In the meantime, there are a number of blogs planned to keep you amused.
